All licenses are required to be
purchased at the commencement of the safari as it is
more difficult to purchase licenses thereafter. Botswana
requires an import permit from the country of final
destination for leopard before an export permit can be
issued. Each hunting client is requested to bring copies
of any CITES permits with them to Botswana.

BOTSWANA
Located in the heart of southern Africa,
Botswana is the size of France, with a population of 1,4
million people, it is a model of prosperity and
stability on the continent. Botswana is one of the very
few multi-party democracies on the continent. It is
free of social friction and has inherited the stability
of English common law and government. Botswana has no
history of war and is a country of stability, progress
and ethnic harmony. Visitors will find a gracious and
warm welcome.
Botswana is one of the great safari
nations. It is politically stable and secure, and has
been spared the exploitation and turmoil found in other
parts of Africa. Botswana has set aside more of its
land for National Parks and Game Reserves than any other
country in Africa. Botswana is renowned for its
abundance and variety of wildlife, and for its wide open
and sparsely populated countryside.
It is a land of contrasts, of compelling
beauty, a true untamed wilderness, encompassing a hugely
diverse variety of habitats each one home to an
astounding array and density of animal and bird life.
The countryˇ¦s more than 100,000 elephantˇ¦s alone make up
the largest free ˇV roaming herds in the world.
The dominant geological feature in
Botswana is the Kalahari Desert, covering roughly two ˇV
thirds of the country. At the northern edge of this
arid expanse lies the Okavango Delta, a magical area
where the mighty Okavango River is tamed by the semi ˇV
desert, spilling its waters over an area of some 7,000
square miles, then disappearing into thirsty sands to
support the most diverse profusion of plant and animal
life in Southern Africa ˇV more than 160 mammal species.
Botswanaˇ¦s bird life is prolific.
HUNTING SEASON
The hunting season runs from the first
Tuesday of April through to the third Tuesday of
September each year.
CAMPS AND LODGES
Situated in unspoiled natural
surroundings, near open water to attract a wide variety
of animals, in some of the most scenic country in the
world. Rann Safaris camps are of great appeal and
comfort. Each individual bush chalet or luxury tent is
available for booking in private, exclusive safaris,
which will assure visitorsˇ¦ total privacy.
LUXURY TENTS AND CHALETS
Twin-bedded units with en-suite showers
and toilets provide your accommodations. These units
are intimate, well appointed and private, designed to
give visitors the ultimate feeling of life in the wild
with the pleasure of game viewing in luxurious seclusion
and comfort.
CLIMATE
Botswana boasts a temperate climate.
Rain falls during the summer months from November to
March and varies from 8 inches (200mm) in the arid
south, to 24 inches (600mm) in the north. It is unusual
to encounter rain during the safari season from April to
September. Generally speaking, the rains tend to fall
in short, sometimes heavy, thunder showers.
Days on the whole are cloudless and
sunny. The average temperatures range from 60 up to
90ˇ¦F.
BAGGAGE
Light aircraft are used for
transportation to and between camp (Optional). It is
essential that baggage be limited to manageable bags and
cases, in addition to your firearms. Soft duffel bags
and gun cases are strongly recommended for safari
travel. All the baggage, clothing and hard gun cases
not needed on your safari can be safely stored in the
Maun office.
MEDICAL INFORMATION
Botswana is a malarial area and
precautions must be taken through out the year. We
recommend you check with your physician prior to
departure for details of health regulations and
immunization requirements. Although the company
maintains comprehensive medical boxes, bring any special
medication your doctor may think you need. Tsetse Fly
are no longer a problem, as they were irradiated in
2002.
BOTSWANA VISA REQUIREMENTS
Citizens of certain countries are
required to obtain visas for entry into Botswana. As
the list of such countries changes from time to time, it
is important to check with your local authorities or
travel consultant regarding current visa requirements.
It is always best to make sure that regulations have not
changed before your visit to Botswana. Non ˇV residents
are allowed to stay in the country for up to 90 days.
All visitors to RSA and Botswana are required to have 2
blank pages in their passports. They will not allow
entry should you have less than this.
LANGUAGE
English is the official language.
Setswane is the national language.
BASIC TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These terms and conditions govern the
relationship between Rann Safaris and you, to the total
exclusion of any other terms and conditions. No

or agents, unless in writing by an authorized officer of
the company. You shall comply with the instructions of

PAYMENT
Your timely payment helps us meet our
responsibilities for the success of your safari. By
booking your safari and paying a deposit, you are deemed
to have accepted ALL of our conditions. We strongly
recommend all hunters take out an appropriate
cancellation insurance policy. Rann Safaris strongly
suggests Sportsmanˇ¦s travel insurance plan to include
MedEvac. This is offered through Travel Guard
International
www.sportsmantravelinsurance.com. They offer travel
insurance which includes: trip cancellation,
interruption, sportsman equipment damage or loss,
license fees refunds and medical coverage. Each travel
insurance policy also includes 24hr emergency travel
assistance services.
LIABILITY

for any expenses or loss of hunting days resulting from
changes of flight schedules, delays or loss of baggage
by international air carriers or the domestic charter
company. Any expenses or inconveniences, including
hotel, restaurants, supplementary airplane ticket
charges, etc. not specifically mentioned above are the
responsibility of the hunter / tourist. Big game
hunting is by definition a potentially dangerous sport.
The company will not accept any liability for any
accidents, illness, death or for any damage to or loss
of property before, during and after the safari, or for
any additional expenses, or for the negligence of any
company or personnel entrusted to the company.

paid 60 days before your safari begins.
4. Once a safari is booked and

www.sportsmantravelinsurance.com
NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN:
1. For lost travel time or
substitution of facilities,

has begun, missed any scheduled part of your safari
FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
Clients are only permitted to import
three firearms; 1 light rifle, 1 heavy rifle and 1
shotgun. Only 100 rounds of ammunition may be imported
per caliber. (Please note that you have to pay duty on
your ammunition on arrival in Maun. It is recommended
that you bring an invoice for the ammo to avoid
confusion with customs. There is a bureau de change
where you can change your forex into the local
currency). Handguns and .22 caliber weapons are NOT
permitted. Additional cartridges may be purchased from
the company. At least 3 months notification of caliber,
make, serial numbers, passport details and address of
